Having a baby leads to a world of emotions but for thousands around the country, it can also lead to postnatal depression. Nicola Fallon first felt something was off just weeks after giving birth to her son, Louis. While initially it was assumed that she was suffering with the 'baby blues', things developed very quickly, and seriously, for Nicola. After six months living with PND and a chance conversation with a friend, Nicola was admitted to psychiatric care in Galway and later St Patricks' Mental Hospital in Dublin where she spent 5 months. Now, Nicola is feeling 'stronger than ever' and she joined Dermot and Dave to chat about her road to recovery and to reinforce the importance of getting help if you're not feeling yourself after welcoming a child. If you think you are experiencing postnatal depression, help is important and available. Contact your GP to discuss how you're feeling or if you need to talk to someone now, call or text the Samaritans on 116123. Nicola's story will feature on a new series 'Turas Clainne' on TG4, Thursdays at 8pm.
