Will The Banks Profit From Lower Mortgage Rates?

AIB has become the latest bank to cut its mortgage rates. It has announced that its fixed mortgage interest rates will be reduced by about 0.3%, the second reduction in less than a year. KBC and Ulster Bank also previously announced cuts to their own fixed rates. But will the banks be able to make profits from lower rates?
