What should be done about abuse outside politicians' homes?

Anti-migration protestors turned up at the house of integration minister Roderic O’Gorman’s house last night. In footage shared on social media, protestors erected banners with anti-immigration slogans and masked men could also be seen appearing to stop a car from turning onto the street. Gardai were present at the scene but no arrests were made. What should be done about abuse outside politicians' homes?
