"Walking to school you see rats running up & down the trailer." Ombudsman For Children Traveller Kids Halting Site Report

"Walking to school you see all the rats ... they would be running up and down the walls of the trailer." The words of a child living on a halting site in Cork. The Ombudsman for Children has criticised Cork City Council over conditions at a halting site and the "shocking" and "deplorable" conditions for children. 'No End in Site', the report into the living conditions of children on a local authority halting site was published today, which doesn't name the site to protect the identity of the children. Henry McKean visited Cork and met Travellers and asked them about their living conditions.
