How The VRT Changes Will Impact Ireland's Top-Selling Cars

How will Ireland's top-selling cars be impacted by the new VRT system introduced in Budget 2021? Some motor industry experts predicted that the average family car would rise by upwards of €1,000 and that some larger petrol models, especially SUVs, would be hit by increases of €7,000. The new VRT will be based off the new light vehicle test procedure emission systems, taking into account that cars under the new test record higher CO2 emissions. Michael Sheridan, editor of Motorhub.ie, joined us for The Last Word on Wheels to discuss this. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2020/10/15185457/LW-VRT.mp3"][/audio]
