US Tourists In Ireland: "You Can't Travel From Texas To Boston, But You Can Travel From Texas To Ireland"
There are growing concerns about the number of American tourists in Ireland, with calls for the Government to suspend flights from the United States and other COVID-19 hotspots.
Ireland is the only EU country currently allowing American tourists in, despite the surge in COVID-19 cases in many US states. There have also been reports of tourists failing to quarantine for 14 days as required.
Róisín Shortall, co-leader of the Social Democrats, Dr Tomás Ryan, Associate Professor in the School of Biochemistry and Immunology at TCD, and Jerry O'Sullivan, presenter of Kerry Today on Radio Kerry, joined us to discuss the issue.
