Method acting is a term often used when actors begin to prepare themselves for a new role by acting exactly like their character in real life. They often get normal jobs that reflect that of their character, or live in an area similar to the one in their new storyline.
However, this approach has many negative connotations attached to it, with it being accused of being a tool that just allows actors to be terrible people, or as something which can negatively effect their mental health.
