Tensions and disagreements at COP 28

Cop28 president Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber has claimed there is “no science” indicating that a phase-out of fossil fuels is needed to restrict global warming to 1.5 degrees. Caroline O’Doherty, Environment correspondent with the Irish Independent is in Dubai and spoke to Ciara this morning. Also, Friends of the Earth has called on Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to clarify exactly what he meant by “a planned reduction in the use of fossil fuels” when he addressed Cop28 on Saturday.
