How To Tell The Difference Between Hay Fever And COVID-19
It's hay fever season, but this year the situation is complicated by the fact that some of the symptoms are similar to COVID-19.
In some people, hay fever can trigger allergic asthma, causing a tight chest and difficulty breathing. So how can you tell the difference?
Hay fever sufferers will often present with red, itchy, watery eyes, which are not symptoms of COVID-19. Sinus pain, pressure and congestion are also associated with hay fever, but have not been reported among COVID-19 patients.
Dr Doireann O'Leary, GP at MyCorkGP and health blogger, joined us for our weekly medical slot to explain more about hay fever, how it affects people and how it can be treated.
