"They throw rocks & eggs at me." Delivery Riders tension with innercity teens

Recently we spoke to Paul McKeon about tensions between food delivery workers and local youths. Gardaí have launched increased patrols in the north inner city of Dublin, but many Deliveroo riders have had their bikes and phones stolen and some say they feel unsafe going to work. Henry McKean spoke to male and female Brazilian riders and local youths to see if we can avert future violence.  The Gardai issued us with this statement " All reported incidents are fully assessed and where appropriate an investigation is launched. An Garda Síochána in the North inner city have initiated a policing operation in response to a number of recent incidents in the area." Deliveroo also issued Newstalk with a statement and said: "We strongly condemn all forms of attacks or violence on riders. There is no place for this, especially when riders are carrying out a vital role in their communities, helping the public to receive the food they need and want. The security and safety of riders is our absolute priority and we take every step to ensure they feel safe when on the road.” see more
