"It targets pocket money pricing...."

Alcohol sales in Scotland fell to their lowest level since records began in 1994  in the first year that minister set a minimum price of 50p per alcoholic unit. Minimum unit pricing for Ireland was introduced in the Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018, which also includes measures such as new restrictions on advertising.However, the section covering MPU - which would set the minimum price per gram of alcohol at €0.10 - has yet to be commenced. Alison Douglas, chief executive of Alcohol Focus Scotland and  Sheila Gilheany, CEO of Alcohol Action Ireland joined Ivan on this evenings Hard Shoulder to discuss.
