Should the Taoiseach use pop culture quotes in his speeches?

Last Friday, when announcing the easing of a number of Covid-19 restrictions in business and society, effective from next Monday, June 29th, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said this quoted 2004’s teen comedy ‘Mean Girls’. He has used quotes from popular culture in his speeches throughout lockdown including lines from Terminator 2, The Lord of the Rings and Dermot Kennedy’s song ‘All my friends’.  Speaking on Prime Time last night the Taoiseach defended his actions saying: ‘I think any quote is appropriate if it’s appropriate in its context, whether it was written in a movie or by a poet.’ What do you think?
