Former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke has claimed that snobbery from local authorities is a major factor in blocking a more even spread of homeless accommodation. Dublin 1 has 20 times the national average of people in emergency accommodation while some city suburbs like Terenure, Howth and Ballinteer have none at all.
