Should Vaccinations Be Compulsory Before People Can Take A Flight?

The chief executive of Qantas, Australia's largest airline, has said it will be mandatory for passengers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before travelling on its aircraft. Speaking on Australian television, Alan Joyce added that he expects other airlines to implement similar rules. It comes as Oxford University and AstraZeneca announced positive results from trials of their COVID-19 vaccine, following promising news from both Pfizer and Moderna in the last couple of weeks. Fianna Fáil MEP Billy Kelleher, who is calling on the Department of Foreign Affairs to initiate negotiations at EU and WHO level on developing a passport COVID stamp, and travel journalist Ed Finn joined us to give their thoughts on whether the vaccine should be compulsory before flying.
