Should The Irish National Invincibles be reinterred and commemorated?
A proposal to recover the remains of ‘The Invincibles’ from the grounds of Kilmainham Jail is gathering support across the Island of Ireland.
The relatives of the five men, backed by the National Graves Association are calling for a reburial and commemoration.
The Invincibles murdered the Chief Secretary of Ireland Lord Frederick Cavendish and his Permanent Under Secretary Thomas Henry Burke in Phoenix Park in May 1882.
The five men, Joseph Brady, Daniel Curley, Michael Fagan, Thomas Caffrey and Tim Kelly - were hanged in 1883 for their part in the Phoenix Park assassinations and then they were buried in the grounds of Kilmainham Jail.
An area of the jail that is now known as the Invincibles Yard.

To date the families have the backing of eighteen Councils North and South.
