Scorchio! How To Stay Sun Safe During The Good Weather

We all know it, and it's hard to accept sometimes but we just don't get good weather a lot in this little island. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2021/07/13121211/Bernie_SkinCancer.mp3"][/audio] However, when we do, and given we're all big into the old al fresco socialising these days, being sun smart has never been more important. Non-melanoma skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland, with melanoma being the fourth most common. There are over 12,114 non-melanoma skin cancers and over 1,197 melanomas diagnosed every year, 154 people die from the disease each year. But it is preventable, and we can all take small steps every day to mind our biggest organ. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Bernie Carter from The Marie Keating Foundation explained the basics of sun safety and why it's a year round issue. Bernie also spoke about new podcast 'The Marie Keating Foundation Talks Cancer' and how it offers practical advice and help for anyone who has cancer in their lives.
