RTÉ To Remove Controversial God Sketch From Player

RTÉ is to remove a controversial TV sketch from the RTÉ Player after its Editorial Standards Board found it caused "undue offence". The sketch, which was shown on RTÉ's New Year's Eve Countdown, showed a mocked-up news report claiming God had been arrested over "sexual harassment scandals". It drew complaints from some members of the public, who called it offensive and blasphemous. In a statement, RTÉ said the sketch did not afford "due respect" for religious beliefs and that, despite being satirical, it did not meet "the standards expected of the national broadcaster". Joe O'Shea and Jennifer Gannon gave their thoughts in our weekly TV slot, and also discussed the Danish children's TV show which is causing uproar.
