Report Recommends Against A Full Scale Inquiry Into Illegal Adoptions

A government review into illegal adoptions has recommended against a full-scale inquiry into the issue.   A scoping report published today found no concrete evidence that the practice was widespread outside of St Patrick's Guild, which has already identified 151 such cases.  However, it discovered markers and wording in a sample of 1,500 files from other adoption agencies that suggest the practice of illegal adoptions was taking place in a number of institutions. Roderic O’Gorman Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth joined Shane on the show this morning.
