The Reaction As Tánaiste Leo Varadkar Apologises For "Errors Of Judgement"

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has given a statement to the Dáil on why he shared a contract negotiated between the Government and the Irish Medical Organisation with a rival GP group last year. He apologised for his "errors of judgement" and accepted that sharing the agreement in the way that he did was "not good practice". However, he denied that there was anything inappropriate about having informal contacts of this nature and added that the suggestion he had anything to gain personally was "false and deeply offensive". We were joined by Professor Gary Murphy from the School of Law and Government at DCU and former Communications Minister Richard Bruton, who gave their reaction to the Tánaiste's speech.
