The weekend's warm weather saw large numbers of people gather at beauty spots across the country to enjoy the sunshine. However, piles of litter were also left behind in towns and coastal areas. Fine Gael Senator John McGahon has called for a volunteer corps to be set up to help local authorities tackle the growing problem of litter in popular public areas.
