Should passengers be tested for Covid-19 before travelling to Ireland?

The DAA appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Covid-19 Response today. Amongst the issues they are highlighting is testing travellers before allowing them entry into Ireland. They say “There may also be merit in pursuing an evidence-based system for all non-green list countries, whereby arriving passengers are required to undertake a Covid-19 test 72 hours or less before travel and submit proof of a negative test prior to travel.” It’s an approach that many other European countries have already introduced.
