Parents Warned Against Lobbying Teachers Over Their Child's Leaving Cert Grade

Following the announcement that this year's Leaving Cert exams would be replaced by calculated grades, concerns have been raised about the possibility of parents trying to influence teachers. John MacGabhann, General Secretary of the Teachers' Union of Ireland, has suggested that there should be consequences for parents who attempt to lobby teachers over their child's grade, which could take the form of a public record. He joined us on The Last Word to discuss this further, along with Arthur Godsil, former headmaster of St Andrew's College and director of Godsil Education. They also spoke about whether schools are likely to open as normal in September. Listen to the interview in full by pressing the play button on this page.
