Padraig Harrington is one of Ireland's most successful golfers, a three-time major winner and captain of this year's Ryder Cup team. He is also a patron for the Oesophageal Cancer Fund, which raises funds for life-saving research into oesophageal cancer as well as increasing public awareness of the illness. Padraig lost his father, Paddy, to oesophageal cancer in 2005 at the age of 72, and he believes his death could have been prevented if he had sought medical treatment earlier. He spoke to Matt on The Last Word about the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, Ryder Cup preparations and how professional golfers have been impacted by the pandemic.
