It Now Costs €2,000 To Display A Sandwich Board In Dublin City

A sign of the times If anyone asks you whether or not the boom is back, just tell them this story. Since September 1st, businesses in Dublin's "fair" city have been slapped with a €630 annual levy if they wish to continue displaying their sandwich boards on the street. And as if that's not outrageous enough, they must then provide architectural drawings of the boards, paths and any other potential obstacles outside their store, followed by a planning advert in the paper. Richard Guiney, CEO of DublinTown, chats to Dermot and Dave about this bizarre application process and reveals how it would cost the best part of €2,000 per board overall. With 57 being confiscated by the DCC (Dublin City Council) in the first week, the lads also discuss they way inspectors are removing them and explore potential ways this issue could be resolved.
