Becoming Two years after leaving The White House, First Lady Michelle Obama, had written her memoir, Becoming and was embarking on a book tour. She decided she wanted to turn that tour into a documentary and asked Oscar nominated, Nadia Hallgren to be the person to film and direct it. Before meeting Mrs Obama, Nadia studied the Obamas for three weeks. She read every book and watched and listened to as many interviews as possible. She was nervous on her first meeting but the nerves subsided as the two women spoke about their families and lives. Mrs Obama offered Nadia the job on the spot.
