Moby Claims Pandemics Wouldn't Happen In A 'Vegan World'
Health experts have dismissed Moby's claims that there would be no pandemics in a 'vegan world'.
The musician, who is a passionate animal rights activist, tweeted that "100% of pandemics are zoonotic in origin".
His tweet was shared 4,000 times, but many health experts were quick to debunk the suggestion, pointing out that some diseases such as malaria, yellow fever and cholera are transmitted via other means.
Malaria and yellow fever are transferred through mosquito bites while cholera, which kills up to 143,000 people a year, is transmitted through contaminated food and water.
Laura Byrne and Donal O'Donoghue joined us for The Week Trending to discuss this and some of the other stories making the news this week.
