Meet The Louth Golfer Who Is Making A Huge Impact On World Golf

A couple of weeks ago, our very own Dermot Whelan had the honour of competing in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Pro-Am at Lahinch, an event he says was one of the best experiences of his life. Not only did he get to play alongside 2008 US Masters winner Trevor Immelman, he was also teamed up with Louth man Brendan Lawlor, which was his real highlight. "He's easily the best golfer I've ever seen play golf" Brendan is one of the the top golfers in the world to play with a disability. He was born with Ellis-Van Creveld syndrome, a rare genetic condition characterized by short limbs, additional fingers and/or toes and congenital heart defects, but this has never held him back from anything. Dermot and Dave chat to the 22-year-old about his journey from pitch and putt player to winning the inaugural EDGA (European Disability Golf Association) Scottish Open over the past week.   View this post on Instagram   Definitely a week to remember!
