Meet The Irish Barbers Giving Life-Changing Haircuts

Fat Tony's launch their #BarbersWhoCare campaign to help men's mental health There's a lot to be said for a good barber. Whether you're looking for a sick fade, beard trim or a zero all over, it's very comforting to know you are in safe hands. But it's not just about the hair; a barbershop is also a place you get to have a relaxed one-to-one chat with someone who often becomes a confidant over time. Now, a barbers in the West of Ireland wants to expand their service in order to help men's mental health. John Maguire is the director of Fat Tony's, who have have shops in eight locations in counties Galway and Clare and offer a complete barbering and male grooming service. Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, John explains what their initiative involves and urges other barbers to get on board. They've teamed up with Pieta House to learn more about mental health, equipping themselves with the tools to help their customers. John says; we're not a counselling service but we're giving people the option of an ear, someone to speak to and we've started this Barbers Who Care initiative trying to raise awareness This is also a message from the team: 'Next time you visit (any barbershop in the world) and you feel you had a good old fashioned chat that made you feel good, do please try and make the effort to share that barbers efforts by simply using the HASHTAG #barberswhocare with any pic you took in their establishment, to spread the word! We’re always here, we’re always everywhere' Remember - it's good to talk and a problem shared IS a problem halved. Check out the chat in full by pressing the play button on screen.
