How To Make Our Homes And Businesses More Sustainable
People all over the world are taking part in tomorrow's Global Climate Strike to demand action against climate change.
This weekend will also see the Red Stables Festival, which connects food, nature and sustainability, take place in St. Anne's Park, Dublin.
Angela Ruttledge, co-owner of Olive's Room and organiser of the festival, joined us to discuss some of the ways she is trying to make her business more sustainable, such as reducing food and packaging waste.
We were also joined by Dr Tara Shine of Change by Degrees, which helps people make environmentally friendly changes.
Irish people waste up to €700 worth of food per household each year, and Tara's advice to anyone seeking to make their own homes more sustainable is to look at what you are throwing out and consciously buy less of it, or buy it less frequently.
She also suggests avoiding 'buy one, get one free' offers, which encourage people to buy more food than they are likely to use, and using your freezer to preserve what you can.
