Looking After Your Oral Health
Most of us associate oral health problems with a visit to the dentist, but it's also an area GPs often deal with.
Halitosis, or chronic bad breath, is a common oral health issue. It's mostly caused by cavities, gum disease or a high-sugar diet, but can also be a result of diabetes, reflux or heartburn.
Mouth ulcers are often a result of gum disease or cavities, and are particularly common in smokers. They can also be a sign of a deficiency in iron, vitamin B12 or folic acid.
