Listener email: '..I feel too 'old' to try and date anymore…'
Listener email: 'Hi Ciara, May I ask you to use this letter as your final Friday e-mail and good luck on your new venture on Newstalk Breakfast. This is a cry for help… I’m a 62 year old male and I’d like to hear advice / points of view from your listener’s regarding my situation. I am Irish and split-up with my Polish girlfriend three months ago, after a ten-year relationship. She’s 50 years of age. I’ve a much higher sex drive than her which led to the relationship breakdown. I’m also a widowed single father of three sons and have reared them well, thankfully. I get on very well with people, though I tend to be a loner and always have been. The Love, Friendship and Companionship we shared was a hugely important aspect in both our lives and is now gone for both of us. The loss is certainly a massive sadness for myself and I would imagine my ex. Of course, this has left a huge void in my life now. I also feel very bad that I’ve hurt her deeply, psychologically, by ending the relationship as I was the main person in her life and now she’s completely alone. I feel guilty for walking away - however I’ve helped her progress her life so much over the last ten years. I now feel “Old” and that I will never have another relationship. I feel destined to a life of Loneliness after a Hard Life as a widowed single father. Do I just accept this situation and carry on regardless, as I feel too “Old” to try and date anymore…?' What do you think? Ciara hears from listeners
