Listener email: Dating after a mastectomy
A listener got in touch: 'Ciara I lost my right breast almost two years ago due to breast cancer. After, I was depressed & my confidence was shattered but I’ve done lots of counselling and am coming to terms with it and feeling better about myself. SO I’ve started online dating because I really want to meet someone. I feel like it’s time to try. I'm having fun chatting to a couple of men online. It’ll be a while before I meet anyone face to face, but my question is, should I tell them about the mastectomy straight away or leave it until we meet? I’d prefer to have a face to face conversation, but would a man view it as dishonest if I didn’t say it straight away. A friend said I should have it on my profiIe but I don’t think I should have to. I’m worried about rejection. What’s the best thing to do?' Ciara chats to listeners
