There have been nearly 1,500 confirmed cases of Covid 19 inside 28 food processing plants across the country since the start of the pandemic in March. Those numbers helped to push Ireland’s figures above Sweden, and of course Kildare, Laois and Offaly were placed back under lockdown as a result of outbreaks there. But is it fair to blame meat plants, since we know Covid likes cold, controlled places? Henry McKean got exclusive access inside a meat plant in Ballymahon, County Longford, which produces the John Stone Beef brand.
