What It's Like To Go On Holidays In 2020: Irish Journalist Reveals All

Face-masks on the beach, limited time at swimming pools and hand sanitiser every step of the way-is this the future of holidays? While the travel advice from the Irish Government is to avoid non-essential travel remains in place, a travel 'Green List' has been revealed. These are countries with a similar or lower prevalence of Covid-19 and travelers returning to Ireland, or people visiting from these countries, will not have to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. Melanie May is a travel journalist who has been jetting around the world for the past five years. She has traveled to at least 53 countries and recently, she joined the Spanish Minister for Tourism and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation on a trip to The Canary Islands. The purpose of the trip was to see what it is like to fly to and holiday there post-lockdown from mandatory mask wearing to visiting the pool. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Melanie revealed what travelling through an airport, going on a plane and visiting a holiday destination is like in a world dealing with a global pandemic. You can see Melanie's experience in full on her Instagram page. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2020/07/22104232/930-Melanie-May-Podcast.mp3"][/audio]
