The Leinster And Connacht Rugby Player Who Became A Full-Time Adventurer
Damian Browne is best known to rugby fans as a former Leinster and Connacht player, and he also spent part of his career in France and England.
Since retiring from the sport due to a knee injury, Damian has become a full-time adventurer.
This phase of his life began when he climbed Kilimanjaro, and he is now undertaking the Seven Summit Challenge, which involves climbing the highest peaks on all seven continents.
He is about to climb his fifth mountain of the challenge, in Indonesia, in the next couple of weeks.
As well as climbing, Damian has also undertaken a solo row across the Atlantic and a run across the Sahara desert.
He joined us on The Last Word to explain the appeal of being an adventurer, the physical and mental challenges involved, and how his approach to these solitary pursuits differs from being involved in a team sport such as rugby.
