Kevin Lunney Attack Happened "Under Cloud Of Intimidation And Harassment"

Kevin Lunney, director of Quinn Industrial Holdings, has been left with life-changing injuries after being abducted and attacked by a gang of four men near his home in Fermanagh on Tuesday evening. In a radio interview with Shannonside this morning, Seán Quinn condemned the attack as "barbaric" and expressed fears that his family would be blamed for it. John McCartan is chairman of QBRC, the parent company of Quinn Industrial Holdings. He told The Last Word that Kevin has "a long road to recovery" ahead of him and said that all who know him are "absolutely devastated" and "disgusted" by the attack. He described Kevin as "a tireless community worker" and "a quiet, understated, diligent man of integrity". John added that this was a carefully planned attack, with the core aim of driving the management team and current directors off the site. "We've operated under a cloud of intimidation and harassment for a number of years now. However, we've never lost sight of the importance of the project that we took on which was to protect the economy of the north-west." Tom Lyons, financial journalist with The Currency, questioned why nobody has so far been held to account for the incidents that have taken place. "What is it going to take for real action to take place by the Gardaí and the PSNI, north and south?" "If this was happening to Pfizer in Cork, or Facebook and Google in Dublin, there would be uproar." Listen to the interview in full by pressing the play button on this page.
