LGBT people in public roles 'encounter deeply homophobic slurs'

Amnesty International Ireland Executive Director Colm O’Gorman joins Clare to talk about being a gay man in public life. He tweeted recently: 'I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had homophobic slurs hinting at or baldly suggesting I’m a risk to children. The simple appalling reality is that for most gay men who end up working in public life in some form another, at some stage they will face this'. He was reacting to The Minister for Children, Equality, Disability and Integration Roderic O'Gorman releasing a statement to clarify the story emerging based on a photograph of him with LGBTQ activist Peter Thatchall.
