'It was ahead of its time' After 40 years of Naval service the Le Eithne has made it last journey.
LÉ Eithne the last naval ship built in Ireland has set sail on its final voyage ahead of its likely scrappage.
The Vessel was the flagship of the Irish Naval Service and served 38 years on missions at home and abroad before it was decommissioned in July 2022.
Joining Sean to explain the importance of LÉ Eithne, its capabilities and what it was like to serve aboard her was Mark Mellett, Chief of Staff of Ireland's Defence Forces from 2015 until 2021 and former Captain of the ship.
