Scientists at Trinity College Dublin this week announced a significant advance in our understanding of concussion. Repetitive impacts, as opposed to singular events, are what causes the major impact in the brain. Dr Colin Doherty is Consultant Neurologist at St James’s Hospital and clinical lead on the study. He told Ivan why these findings back up his assertion that head injuries are a 'public health emergency'.
