The Leaving cert results were announced on Friday, and once again they revealed a huge disparity in the number of students sitting the Irish exam in comparison to Maths and English. 7,332 fewer students sat Irish in comparison to Maths and 7,094 fewer students sat Irish in comparison to English.  Is it time to make Irish a choice subject?  Well to discuss further Shane was joined on the show this morning by  Julian de Spáinn General Secretary of Conradh na Gaeilge and Ed Walsh Founding President of the University of Limerick.
