Irish Water UPDATE: "We have the boiled water notice on for a minimum of another day, if not two"

Following a technical issue at a water treatment in Leixlip, which caused untreated water to get into the network, 600,000 people across Dublin, Kildare and Meath are being told to boil their drinking water. The Boil Notice applies to parts of Fingal, areas in Dublin City Council, parts of South Dublin County Council, parts of Kildare and Dunboyne in Meath. A detailed map of affected areas is available here. Yvonne Harris, Director and Head of Customer Relations at Irish Water, updates Dermot and Dave on what actions the company are taking to ensure the issue is resolved as quickly as possible. We're working with the HSE and EPA at the moment...one of the challenges is that we need the water at the extremities to have flushed through the network before we can lift the boiled water notices Harris also offers this advice: "personal hygiene is all perfect, the only thing I would caution is your child in the bath". Here are some tips from the Irish Water website: What you should use cooled boiled water for Drinking Drinks made with water Preparation of salads and similar foods, which are not cooked before eating Brushing of teeth or gargling Making ice - discard existing ice cubes and make ice from cooled boiled water Filtered water - pour out any filtered water in fridges and use cooled boiled water What you do not need cooled boiled water for Personal hygiene, such as showering and bathing Toilet flushing For more information, go to the Irish Water website www.water.ie or keep up to date on their twitter by clicking here.
