Irish Mother Takes Two Days Maternity Leave Due To Covid-19

For most mothers, at a more 'normal' time, maternity leave should be a time for rest, recuperation and bonding. But when you're a small business owner, and a new mum, things are often far more complicated than that. Two weeks ago, Catriona Lysaght gave birth to her fourth daughter, Georgie and was back in work within 48 hours. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Catriona explained that her job as a speech therapist at The Speech Centre has become a lot more challenging during the pandemic and her plans to 'throw money' at the issue of maternity leave, were scuppered. Aware that she has numerous people who are relying on her, Catriona made the decision to take just two days off and is back in work, feeding her daughter during Zoom calls. Catriona told Dermot and Dave that while it was a tough decision, she is relishing Georgie's night feeds and looks forward to taking a holiday in a few weeks time.
