Irish Distillery Switches From Making Gin To Manufacturing Hand Sanitiser

Never has a bottle of hand sanitiser been so in demand. It’s sold out nearly everywhere, with people searching high and low for a bottle of the germ-busting liquid. With the government advice still focused on ensuring people are washing their hands, a team in Listoke Distillery & Gin School decided to made the switch from primarily making Gin to manufacturing hand sanitiser. Bronagh Conlon, co-founder of Listoke Distillery & Gin School, joined Dermot & Dave to chat about what inspired their decision to make the move into hand sanitiser. Since Saturday morning Bronagh and her team have manufactured thousands of litres of hand sanitiser.   View this post on Instagram   THIS IS WHY WE DO IT!!! Today we were able to supply Dublin Fire Brigade with Hand Sanitizer - their base is being used for fire fighters, ambulances, AND the main Test Centre. Having this hand sanitizer will hopefully help them protect themselves and others! THANK YOU to the people on the front line!! @dubfirebrigade #frontline #listokedistillery #coronavirus A post shared by Listoke Distillery & GinSchool (@listokedistillery) on Mar 17, 2020 at 11:06am PDT Bronagh is a breast cancer survivor and was first motivated to make it for herself but soon realised she had to do something to help others and made the call to mass produce it over the weekend. They’re covering costs in order to keep production possible not just for the next few weeks but for the next few months and well into the later part of the year. They are donating a lot of their product to places like Dublin fire brigade and the Peter McVerry trust and to Local homeless shelters and women’s refuges Bronagh says they have been inundated with requests for the hand sanitiser from the general public, adding that their fear and desperation is palpable.   View this post on Instagram   OPEN TODAY 12 - 3 PM ! Once again we are open to public for hand sanitizer (and gin!) sales, and once again this will be stock that has not been promised to front line services so stock is limited! Stay Safe everyone and wash your hands! #listokedistillery #handsanitizer #coronavirus #staysafe A post shared by Listoke Distillery & GinSchool (@listokedistillery) on Mar 18, 2020 at 2:36am PDT They are taking orders, but for collection only from their Listoke location and Bronagh is advising people to keep an eye on their social channels where they will update daily on supply and demand.
