''I never made a living wage in the restaurant industry''

In the US, a sign on the window of a restaurant has sparked a lot of debate around tipping. The flyer apparently reads: “Servers make state minimum wage which is only $5.65/hr, most of which is taken away in taxes!” It continues: “They rely on your tips to make a living! When you don’t leave a tip, they would have served you for the duration of your meal for nothing! Take care of those who took care of you!” This got us want to talk about tipping here and what the best thing to do is when out for a meal... Brenda Hyland Beirne of the Irish School of Etiquette joined Andrea to discuss tipping etiquette in Ireland.
