How Can We Make The Internet Safer For Children?

One third of all children are internet users, but how can we make sure it's a safe experience for them? An ESRI survey found that girls who get mobile phones earlier fare less well in terms of behavioural adjustment and their academic self-concept. Meanwhile, a CyberSafe Ireland survey of 2,300 children between the ages of 8 and 12 found that over 30% had experienced something upsetting online in the past year, and a fifth said they had not informed a parent or trusted adult. Andy O'Donoghue and ISPCC Chief Executive John Church joined us for a Tech Tuesday special on Safer Internet Day to discuss ways of improving children's online safety.
