Hidden Histories: MTV Turns 40 Years Old

Today, August 1st is the anniversary of music television. Not the first time music was heard on television but MTV. Launching in the United States on 1 August 1981, and coming to Europe six year later, on 1 August 1987, at a time when an Irish band was arguably the biggest in the world. The station launched Irish media careers - and even brought the MTV Awards to Dublin’s Point Depot at a time when anything Irish was in big demand. Donal Fallon joined Gavan for another episode of Hidden Histories to discuss.
