Hector's New TG4 Series Brings Us A “Different Slice” Of America

'Hector USA Ó Chósta go Cósta' takes us on an eye-opening 5,000km trip from Georgia to San Diego Hector Ó hEochagáin - what a man! Whether it's Siberia, South America or Spiddal, the Navan native captivates us along his travels as he searches for real life stories from across the globe. In his latest project, the modern-day seanchaí takes us on a trip Down South, waayyyy south: Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona & California. From guns to bibles we saw it all! #HectorUSA Ó Chósta go Cósta starts Thursday 9.30pm on TG4. pic.twitter.com/OhDhX1GKlc — Hector (@hectorirl) October 19, 2019 Episode 1: The road trip begins in Georgia as Hector takes to the waters with Captain Charlie Phillips. He links up with Sheriff Larry Dean to get the lowdown on how safe Georgia is before meeting up with former marine, Chris Hill and the Georgia Security Force III%. He’ll be singing with the Gospel Choir in Martin Luther King’s Church before taking a spin in General Lee as he revisits his young days of the Dukes of Hazard. From guns to racism to high school sports he gets his first taste of America on his epic journey (TG4) Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Hector says, "I wanna show people a different slice of America...it's a million miles from Central Park. It's another world". I get a vibe and an energy off everyday things and everyday people. Communication by humans goes an awful long way It's this ethos that allows Ó hEochagáin to break down barriers and get the best from his interviewees. The documentary-maker also tells us about a $20 million crowdfunded wall built to keep Trump out of El Paso, what it was like chatting to first female African-American judge in Alabama and just how loved the Irish are there. Hector USA Ó Chósta go Cósta kicks off tonight (October 24th) @9:30pm on TG4. It's an eight-parter that runs every Thursday up to mid December, so think of it as an early Christmas pressie from Hector. We've lots of grá for the man and can't wait to watch his journey.
