"He singled me out on O'Connell Street and told me to get back to my own country"

A woman has told The Pat Kenny Show how she was racially assaulted on O'Connell Street in Dublin last week as she walked to work. Aoife, who is from Dublin, says a man came up to her and punched her on the shoulder and told her to "get back to her own country" as she walked to work. The 35-year-old says she was left shaken by the incident and has called for there to be more Gardai on the streets of the capital. The incident comes as the Irish Network Against Racism say there has been an increase in racial on-street incidents despite less people interacting because of Covid-19.
