Legendary Cream Drummer Ginger Baker Dies Aged 80
Ginger Baker, the drummer with Cream, has passed away at the age of 80.
He had been critically ill in hospital, according to a public announcement from his family.
Baker is widely considered to have been one of the greatest rock drummers of all time, and is credited with recording one of the first ever drum solos in the genre on the song 'Toad', from Cream's debut album Fresh Cream.
The band sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and released four albums between 1966 and 1969.
Although he was known for being difficult to work with, musicians including Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson and Mick Jagger paid tribute to Baker, as did the family of his late Cream bandmate Jack Bruce, with whom he often clashed.
John Caddell and Dee Reddy discussed this and more in our weekly music slot.
