Futureproof Extra: Huntington's Disease

Secrecy, evasion and lies can be common features for many people grappling with disease. It can be extremely difficult to come to terms with the prospect of any potentially fatal genetic disease and Huntington’s Disease is certainly no different. This relentless, inherited condition sees individuals usually live about 15 to 20 years after signs and symptoms begin and despite the best efforts of researchers - we are still far from a cure. But work goes on, researchers continue to search for new and better ways to tackle the symptoms and causes despite the challenges. One such researcher is Lauren Byrne, Research Fellow at Huntington’s Disease Centre, UCL, Institute of Neurology, London  - she joins Jonathan in studio to discuss her work. see more
